Digital Services Librarian, Purchase College, SUNY, Purchase, NY

August 2005 – present

I manage the library’s integrated management system, or ILS (Aleph), which involves coordinating system upgrades, training library staff, and developing new policies and tools and running regular reports. I also manage the electronic resource collection where I am involved in reviewing and recommending electronic resources for the collection, meeting with vendors and consortia, maintaining existing subscriptions and renewals and keeping track of usage, access points, and statistics. I maintain a knowledge base of all electronic subscriptions, manage openURL and the proxy server. I design, maintain and update the library’s web site and newsletter and I am involved in reference and instruction, collection development, and marketing.

Adjunct Faculty Librarian / Instructor, Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.

August 2007 – present

I teach a one-credit, semester long required course for undergraduates called Foundations of Library Research. This course focuses on essential information literacy skills in relation to a specific research assignment. I use Blackboard and social networking tools (blogs, social bookmarking, wikis, etc.) to facilitate learning and communication.

Information Systems & Technology Librarian / Reference Coordinator, Levy Library, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY.

May 2000 – July 2005

I managed the library’s integrated library management system (SIRSI) and coordinated e-journal projects including implementing openURL (ArticleLinker) and an e-journal management system (Serials Solutions). I maintained the library web site and provided all aspects of reference service including staffing the reference desk and providing email and phone reference. I also managed the library’s collaborative online reference system (QuestionPoint) and coordinated chat reference training for librarians. I scheduled reference desk staffing and supervised and trained reference librarians. I taught a variety of classes for students, faculty, staff and alumni in library and technology related topics and collaborated on the design and implementation of online classes and assessment tools using WebCT.

Reference & Access Services Librarian. The University of Texas at Austin

June 1997 – April 2000

In my tenure at the University of Texas at Austin, I worked at the main library (Perry Castañeda), the Life Sciences Library and the Undergraduate Library, focusing on reference and instruction at all libraries and in all subject areas. I also supervised the Access Services (circulation and reserves) Unit of a library, managed reference and reserves collections, and chaired a campus wide committee on user guides and handouts. I also taught library instruction classes as part of the campus information literacy program.
